I'm totally in love with their baked goods! Give me a savory morning bun any day and I am a happy camper. I'm not so much a fan of sweet stuff, but even I can get teary eyed over their cookies and cakes. Might also be the prices that make me tear up, haha. Yeah, they are not cheap, but I am more than happy to pay up for an occasional treat, if it is that good!

La Farine is a cute little bakery. They have a pretty solid selection of baked goods; both savory and sweet. If you happen to be in the neighborhood, you should absolutely pop in and grab a small pastry to snack on, or even a loaf of bread to take home with you.

This place is like your local bakery in Oakland! There's a good variety of things to choose from and the cashiers there are super friendly and helpful. I only came here to get one thing, and it was this round foccacia that I ordered. Foccacia is one of my favorite breads and this one stood out to me the most. It was dense but had a good chew and I like the toppings that were added on top of this. If only there was a toaster or microwave, I would of loved to try this warmed up.

Quite possibly the best fruit tart I have had in a long time. The fruit is very fresh and sweet and I love how beautifully it is arranged. The shell is very buttery and indulgent. Every bite with the fruit, cream, and shell was so amazing. I will be back.

Clean and small bakery in Oakland. A place to quickly grab your favorites and go since there really isn't a place to sit and enjoy your pastries/coffee. Service is always quick and fast. My favorite item to get here is the fruit tart. The mini ones don't taste the same as the large ones so I would highly recommend getting the large. It is a fan favorite when I bring it to parties. They also are always beautiful and aesthetic as well.

Got the: - Morning Bun: Croissant dough rolled thin, spread with brown sugar and cinnamon, rolled into a log, then cut and baked in muffin pans...nothing short of decadent. - Crossiant: The classic French croissant, made with croissant dough (flour, butter, milk, sugar, and yeast) cut into a triangle with the requisite seven ridges. Fabulous with jam and butter. - Chocolatine (Chocolate Croissant): Croissant dough with baton Boulanger (bakers chocolate batons) in the middle. The classic pain au chocolat. - Fruit Tart: La Farine makes 8" tarts and 3" tartlettes--the former feeds 8 while the tartlettes are perfect for individual desserts. ... and two Cream Puff Got a ton of bread despite it being around 12pm, had a great selection still. The staff were so sweet and were very careful with the bread when putting it away and it looked so pretty. The croissants and varients had an amazing crunch to it and was so buttery. The cream puffs were AMAZING! Filled and very soft and the chocolate just snapped with bites. As for the tart, it was buttery, fruity and it meshed well with everything! Will be coming back to try out cookies, cakes and so on.

I stopped by this place on a whim when I saw it just walking by. It's a very cute little bakery with everything you could want from dessert to bread and flour. They were not very busy and rang me up right away. I ordered a few pastries and they were as delicious as they looked. I would love to buy some flour next time I'm sure it's high quality.

We got lucky with only one person in line. They are fast, and have so many fresh delicious desserts. I ended up with a chocolate chip apricot cookie, peach tarte and almond tarte. Everything was so yummy and fresh, my friend couldn't wait to return and get more almond tarte. Everything we had here were perfectly sweet. The apricot was so chewy, only thing that hurt was the steep price. But inflation is making everything so expensive these days.

This is THE place for that slice or piece of chocolate pastry you crave in the Bay Area!! I have nothing but the highest praise for such a gem of a bakery in Oakland, CA that I'm so blessed is less than 15 minutes away from where I live. There's a reason this place constantly has a customer inside. I've been searching for YEARS since I moved back to the Bay Area for a place that sells a decadent piece of chocolate cake for those days where you just want a dang piece of chocolate cake without ordering the whole thing. I'd begun to give up on this search and settled for other pastries until one weekend I happened to stumble on this recommendation on Yelp. It was a rainy day on a Saturday morning in February and I figured it wouldn't be too busy out and decided to take the trip over. The bakery has plenty of parking located in the back and if you're lucky you can get a spot up front. The left side has bread type pastries whereas the right side had cakes and patisserie type of pastries in the cabinet. People seem to be regulars (no surprise) as they typically know what they want right away so you know this place is good. I saw a chocolate cheesecake and a cute heart shaped cake which looked chocolatey so I decided to try it out. When I got home, I just had to take a bite to see what it tasted like and that was my mistake because I ended up finishing both with my mom. This is the closest thing to luxury in a desert I've ever experienced in the Bay Area. Every pastry is creamy, flavorful, chocolatey but not too sweet as though you're in a legitimate French bakery in France tasting the finest of desserts. I've come back at least 3 times now and have tried different chocolate items like the Geneveve slice and the mini chocolate cupcakes and haven't ventured too far from this but they have certainly mastered the art of chocolate in patisserie. As long as I live in the Bay Area, La Farine on Fruitvale Avenue will have me customer for life as their patisserie section is absolutely unmatched & will never care how their service is as long as their quality stays the same.
